Help on how to 1 way push data

Hi there
Maybe Im missing something but..
I have a order tracking system running on sales peoples laptop's. When they connect to the company Network (via dialup) at Night I want to push all off there orders to a named SQL, and then remove those orders from their own laptop.
So in a sense, Its like a one way merge with a delete, or even a push from MSDE to the main SQL server.
I dont want existing data pushed back to the laptop.. SO its all one way.
Any ideas? or help
Ryan,
I have seen merge used for this - you can have a filter of 1=2 on the
tables. This ensures that subscriber inserts are replicated to teh
publisher, and then deletes are replicated back because the filter is not
satisfied. However, this can be a bit buggy if inserts are still carried out
on the subscriber while the merge agent is running (some of the new rows
won't be removed when next running the merge agent). Provided you can
prevent this, or it won't happen in your particular business, then this is a
viable solution.
Alternatively, each laptop could be configured as a transactional publisher
with HO as a central subscriber and for the delete command, 'none' is
entered to prevent the replication of deletes.
Finally, you could use DTS/linked servers to accomplish the same thing.

Thanks for your reply. Could you just explain the

please as this sounds about the right way - as the users will not be adding new records at the time of syncronisation (they are basically using the Win Xp Syncronisation tool i.e. Annonymous.
|||Ryan,
in the filter section of the publication properties, on the filter rows tab
you specify this filter:
SELECT <published_columns> FROM [dbo].[yourtable] WHERE 2=1

Help needed in SSIS 2005 & dialup connections

In DTS 2000 there was situation where I had to connect source and destination through a dialup connection (56k), where the transferring of data took me ages to finish, so it was not successful.

In SSIS 2005 is there is a solution?

Thank you

Cheers,

Pradeep.

You can use a multicast component, immediately after your source adapter.

One output from the multicast should go through your usual transformations to the destination.

The other output should go to a Raw File destination. The Raw File destination is not transactional, so it will capture the records it received and will not roll them back even if there is a failure.

If you are using Visual Studio 2005 that has Smart Device programming support, you are ready to develop against SQL Server Mobile 2005.

If not, then this link describes the installation for SQL Server Mobile 2005: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171938(SQL.90).aspx

For developing SQLMobile applications using Visual Studio 2005 you can refer:

Help me to connect

TITLE: Connect to Server

I have downloaded the sql server express edition 2005 .When i open Sql Server Management Studio i am unable to connect this is the error message Login failed for user 'sa'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456)

hi,

are you sure this is the exact exception you are reported with, or does the error message say "Login failed for user 'sa'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection"?

if this is the case, SQLExpress install by default disabling standard SQL Server authenticated connections.. only WinNT trusted connections will be available.. you can thus connect via a local Windows account member of the local\administrators group, as this group is by default granted login to local SQL Server instances...

once you are connected, you cane use SQL Server Management Studio to modify this behaviour after install time... you can select the "server"'s properties and, in the "security" tab (ok, it's no longer a tab, but I hope you understand my meaning) and enable "SQL Server and Windows authentication mode".. this will enable mixed security authentication, allowing you to connect with standard SQL Server logins..

as regard "sa" login, please verify it's property (node Security->Logins) and, in the "status" tab (again, it's no longer a tab :D) check that the login is "enabled"..

regards

Hi,

I was able to connect to sql server with local Windows account member of the local\administrators group.now in "server"'s properties and, in the "security" tab which one is SQL Server and Windows authentication mode".. I am able to see only the logins

1. Builtin/Administrator

2.BUILTIN/Users

3.Khatri/SQLSERVER2005MSFTEUSER$KHATRI$MSSQLSERVER

4.Khatri/SQLSERVER2005MSSQLUSER$KHATRI$MSSQLSERVER

5.NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

6.Sa

and also i see tht-for all the above login properties , In the status tab permession is grant and login is enabled for all the above,In the general tab i am unable to select any of them as they disabled or out of focus.

Which one to select? Please help me out

Thank You

Amitha.

hi,

>1. Builtin/Administrator

>2.BUILTIN/Users

>3.Khatri/SQLSERVER2005MSFTEUSER$KHATRI$MSSQLSERVER

>4.Khatri/SQLSERVER2005MSSQLUSER$KHATRI$MSSQLSERVER

>5.NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

al these are WinNT related logins, used someway with trusted connections...

you only have

>6.sa

as standard SQL Server login...

after you modify the security setting, you have to restart the service in order standard SQL Server authenticated logins to be granted connection...

>and also i see tht-for all the above login properties , In the status tab permession is >grant and login is enabled for all the above,In the general tab i am unable to select >any of them as they disabled or out of focus.

please excuse me, but I'm unable to understand your requirements.. can you please expand on this?

thank you

Help me please about username and password

How to set user and password connect to Database server from other program
when Sql server 2000 authentication by Windows ?
And How Change Windows authentication to Sql server authentication.
To connect via a different user and password you have to modify the
connection string that you are connecting with, but thats only valid
for SQL Server Authentication. You can=B4t specify the Windows user and
password as though this is Integrated Authentication. As you didn=B4t
state how (with which program etc) you are connecting its hard to give
you a suggestion for that, but if you are using the .NET Framework you
could start a new thread and impersonate the thread as a special
Windows user, then you could use impersonation even you are logged on
with a different user.
