Help on Registering SQL Server in Enterprise Admin
We want to monitor SQL job history for 50+ servers using id which doesn't
have admin priviliges on server and database. On database front I can
achieveit by assiging TargetServer role but I want to add all servers in
Enterprise Administartor console. What are minimum rights we require to
register server in Enterprise Admin for Windows 2000 & 2003 Servers?

You will have EM installed on your workstation and to know a login and
password to register the SQL Server

> Rahul|||The minimum 'rights' to register a server are to be able to log into the ser
ver. It is not necessary to have permissions for any database.
However, in order to view the job history in EM (SQL 2000), I think that it
will be necessary to be in the sysadmin server role for all servers. (I'm a
little fuzzy on this...)
For Management Studio (SQL 2005) you must be in the SQLAgentReaderRole (or s
ysadmin) in order to view Job history of all the jobs.
If you used Query Analyzer and had some form or script, it would be necessar
y to only have SELECT permissions on the various sysjob... tables in the msd
b databases.

Thanks for your inputrs. But how I will give permission to domain user to
log on to SQL Server? Do you mean by adding user in SQL Login? Also when we
add user to SQL it asks for "Database" name, like master etc or user created
like test,test1 etc.
So which database we need to assign while adding user to sql login and what
will be security implications of same? I.e.if we add user with database as
master or user database test then what rights the user will have on these
databases'

Help needed...badly
A connection could not be established to MAINSERVER.
Reason: Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties (by right-clicking on the MAINSERVER node) and try again.
I did this and everything looks right...but I am still getting this message. I would really appreciate some help on this, as we have an update to run on one of the databases. But before I run the update, I must move that database off of the partitian it
is on because the partitian is almost full. Any help would be nice. Thank you in advance.

This sounds like a drivers issue, I assume yoiu are connecting from a seperate machine than the server. Try re-installing the enterprise management tools.

HELP- need to convert SQL 6.5 Back Up to 2000
I have made enterprise manager back ups of two databases
on a SQL 6.5 server. The back ups are .dat files. I
want/need to convert these to SQL 2000 or SQL 7.0. I have
a SQL 2000 server. I tried to create a new database on
the SQL 2000 server and then restore the back ups to the
SQL 2000 server's new database I just created. I get an
error saying that the back up is not valid.
What is the procedure for getting this .dat 6.5 back up to
SQL 2000?
mick2767@.hotmail.comWhat you should do is to use the Upgrade Wizard... If you have the SQL 6.5
server with the dbs installed... Simply go to program files -> SQL Server
and you will find the upgrade wizard... That's the way to go.!

BrunoDepending on the setup you have to accomplish this task,
you can use a DTS package scheduled every day to execute
the send postcard process.

Help me to script a table including data
Im try to use SQL server 2000 and use Enterprise to cript a table
But my result is only table structure in the script (myfile.sql)
(something like "create table Tb1, column..") and not have any data in my table included.
how good it is if it can write some insert statement (depend on number of records existed).
Could I have any way to do it with MS SQLServer 2000?
Thank you much.

Hi,
This is a SQL question and not related to SSIS. You will need to post this kind of questions in SQL Server Forums.
Anyways, here is a link which has answer for your query.
